Christmas on Bear Mountain; 1st app. of Uncle Scrooge by Barks (12/47)The introduction and first appearance of Scrooge McDuck in Christmas on Bear Mountain. Scrooge made his first appearance in this story as a curmudgeonly man who decides to test Donald and his nephews to see if they are worthy of inheriting his wealth. When Barks first wrote this story he had no idea that Scrooge was going to achieve the popularity that he was soon to obtain. Scrooge's character was to be fleshed out in later issues as a cantankerous, driven adventurer who traveled the world looking for lost treasures and hidden wealth .

Carl was posthumously dubbed by fans "the good duck artist" or "the Duck Man" as he was one of the first to write and illustrate Donald Duck stories as well as being the creator/artist behind Scrooge McDuck.
