The Battle of Pelennor Fields was the biggest and most important battle in the War of the Ring. This battle was more than a battle for the city of Minas Tirith, but a battle for all of Gondor. It was massive, bloody, and high in casualties. Among them was King Theoden, who fought gloriously and defeated the Black Serpent, and the Witch-King of Angmar, Sauron's second in command.
This is the original painting created for Ballantine Books in the 1970's. We are thrown right into the midst of the battle, seeing the forces of Sauron battling against the brave defenders of the city. The painting is beautifully composed, with a balance a light and dark that guides your eyes throughout the scene to fully observe the chaos that is happening everywhere!
