The Metropolis Survey
Dear Customers,

It is the end of March and I am amazed at how hot the market is getting. Every time I think it can't go up any further…it does. I knew we were in for some increases in sales but my expectations have definitely been exceeded.

Sales have been higher than normal in several areas. I have noticed an increase in demand for strip reprint comics like Ace, King, Mutt & Jeff, Popular, and comics of the like. Keep in mind these books are not just selling in high grade, I am talking about goods and fines as well. Westerns in various grades have also been selling well. Whether it be Atlas Westerns or Gene Autry demand has been on the rise.

Many collectors are not branching out quite as much and instead are sticking with the usual suspects. Titles like Batman, Action, Detective, Superman, Amazing Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, and X-Men are being scooped up in all grades. I have once again noticed mid-grade silver age #1 issues selling at higher rates than usual.

I know I am going to sound like a broken record when I say this but 50's esoteric horror are selling like hot cakes (where did that expression come from…."Who are these people buying all the hot cakes!"-Seinfeld).

We have been buying a ton of great books lately. We recently acquired another batch of horror books from the Northford Collection. I have not entered them all into the computer yet so contact us if you would like to buy some gorgeous EC's and the like.

We also purchased a great collection of 30¢ Marvel Variants over the last month. These books are really cool and very tough to find in any grade. While we did not purchase the ever-elusive Star Wars #1 we did get a bunch of cool ones.

A large group of Gold and Silver Age DC's were purchased several weeks ago. Many of the titles were straight runs and were in great shape. Many of these books are listed on the site this month.

Wonder Woman #105 is still hot in the market and I just purchased a couple of issues. Believe it or not they are usually tough to get I just happened to get lucky this month. One is a VF and if any of you are interested please contact us as it has not made its way into inventory!

On a personal note I would like to thank those of you who have sent emails in regards to my last update. I think it is so important to cherish every day you have on this big blue world of ours. Try not to take things for granted and don't put off telling someone you care about how important they are to you- I am sure they will appreciate hearing your loving words.

Sincerely,

Vincent Zurzolo
