All hands were on deck for this issue, as Lee called on both Kirby and Ditko, plus stalwart Don Heck, to make sure this new franchise had the best, most dramatic art possible, to match his unsurprisingly bombastic story. The dynamic cover shows just what Lee was going for here: opera in broad strokes, mythology writ in bright red crayon. The results, of course, were historic, and Marvel had yet another hit on its hands.
