Incredible Hulk #2 provides a second first appearance for the Hulk as the beloved brute becomes a pop-culture icon. An unhappy Stan Lee had demanded a change after a botched printing process for Incredible Hulk #1. That would lead to this second issue that would transform the Hulk from a blotchy gray to green-skinned glory. Sadly, that couldn't keep the book from only running for six issues. Of course, the key character would survive that quick cancellation to keep thrilling comics fans. Marvel's reliance on the Hulk eventually had the character returning to his own title before breaking out in the '70s with a hit television show. From there, the Hulk’s return to the big-screen Avengers reignited the public’s passion for both the troubled hero and his alter-ego of Dr. Bruce Banner.
