The high-end video game market is booming. Recently, a graded Super Mario 64 broke world records by selling for $1.25 million dollars! Along with Mario and Zelda, Castlevania is one of the most-sought after classic video-game franchises. When it comes to rare NES games, this sealed Castlevania is one of the absolute best finds. A 1st edition of the classic console game Castlevania, the opening entry in Konami’s groundbreaking action-horror franchise, this copy earned a 9.2 A+ Seal Rating from video-game grading company Wata.

This is one of only 5 copies (Wata/VGA graded) known to exist, and it is an elusive 3rd-party hang-tab copy. 3rd-party copies were produced by companies other than Nintendo, and often included built-in tabs for hanging on store shelves. These tabs were almost always immediately popped open to hang games on wire shelves, making this copy a miraculous find.

This copy also features the original Round SOQ (Nintendo Seal of Quality), which was later changed to an Oval SOQ in 1989, without a REV-A logo, which became standard in 1988. This proves that the game was produced and released before 1988, during the heyday of the NES.

The box cover art, inspired by Frank Frazetta’s classic 70’s painting “The Norseman”, features the first appearance of protagonist Simon Belmont. Simon would go on to star in future Castlevania entries, and even crossover into other game franchises and cartoons in the decades since. This game details his quest to destroy the legendary vampire Count Dracula, and is considered one of the best video games of all time.

Castlevania has spawned dozens of videogames on multiple platforms, as well as comics, toys, and cartoons. Netflix recently wrapped the 4th season of their hit Castlevania show, adapted and inspired by classic Castlevania games. The Castlevania franchise has new entries every year, and it all started with 1986’s Castlevania. Don’t miss out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own perhaps the nicest oldest copy of Castlevania the world may ever see!

Through purchasing and consigning multiple video game collections, ComicConnect / Metropolis Collectibles established themselves as one of the premiere retailers of high-end video games. Recently adding 500+ graded games to the inventory, they are confident that there is something for everyone. Be sure to head over to the website www.Metropoliscomics.com and smash that video game tab!
