Spider-Man Joins FF; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 7 (CBI)For over 80 years Marvel Comics has given us some of the most iconic moments in comics and in the early 70s Marvel put a spin on those classics with "What If". The series is narrated by Uatu, the Watcher whom observes the alternate realities of Earth, from his Moon base, and recounts anthology stories that present a new twist on classic tales such as (in the title's debut) “What If Spider-Man Joined the Fantastic Four?” Later issues of the series saw alternate narrators such as “What If Karen Page Had Lived?” and “What If Jessica Jones Had Joined the Avengers?” each hosted by writer Brian Michael Bendis in a cameo appearance. In some cases, the tales told were so popular that they produced their own spinoff series, such was the case with issue #105 and the introduction of Mayday Parker as Spider-Girl. For a short time, the series was called Marvel Alterniverse which produced popular stories like the Last Avengers and Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe, but later got changed back to What If. The What If stories and characters have made a few appearances in Marvel media over the years. The ”What If Jane Foster Lifted Mjolnir?” storyline became part of the Marvel cinematic canon. Marvel later, of course, later released an acclaimed What If animated series based on the MCU. Fans can expect this book’s value to grow in perpetuity.
